The DC had hardware anti-aliasing, which for devs meant that adding AA to their games was "free" in terms of system resources.

>It wasn't
Spotted the subverted sony cuck.

>reluctant to support a piece of hardware that not all DC owners would have.

You'd just pack it in with multi-disk games. If you have the DVD you get to use just one disk and get better audio/video compression. If not, just use the GD-ROMs.

DC library is much better; PS2 has a handful of good games and at least 30,000 bad ones, and they know that. I think it's just saltiness that PS2 folks ended up with the weakest system of the generation once the DC vanished, and looking back, they realize they should have bought a DC and then upgraded to an Xbox anyway.

The PS2 is a trash box, and horribly suited for playing DC games.

>google's not being much help

Google has access to the sum total of human fucking knowledge you mongoloid.

> Get a SELFBOOTING game image (usually in .cdi format)
> Burn the image to disc with imgburn or alcohol 120%
> onto a CD-R (I swear if you are using DVD-Rs I will cut you)
> Burn at whatever speed it literally doesn't matter with modern burners
> Put it into your Dreamcast
> If it doesn't work troubleshoot

Does your Dreamcast boot retail games? If no, it's fucked. Clean the laser with 99% isopropyl alcohol and a q-tip. If that doesn't work google "Dreamcast laser POT adjustment" and try not to fucking electrocute yourself to death.

If it boots retail games but not your burned game than you fucked up. Some DCs can be picky with certain brands of CD-R (Verbatim, Memorex, etc). Odds are you fucked up the burn somehow though. Try with another image.

This is lame.

You don't have to "hate" the PS2 if you're a Dreamcast aficionado. It's a solid system with a lot of really good games (including a lot of really good Sega games). The PS2 was certainly a contributing factor in the death of the Dreamcast but Sony literally did nothing wrong. Both Sony and Sega are businesses, and they were both doing everything they could to make sure that they came out on top.

The console wars are over, neglecting one console over another out of some ancient rivalry is just being shortsighted. Both systems compliment each other very well, but if you have to choose between systems for a game I can't think of a single one that plays or performs better on the PS2, they're all better on the Dreamcast.

I will admit that it is pretty amusing that the PS2 makes an excellent Dreamcast stand, though.

Not the same guy, but it took quite a while for the PS2 to catch up to where the Dreamcast was graphically.

Having a CPU clocked 50% higher and double the RAM was one thing, but the PS2 was bottlenecked hard by only having 4MB of VRAM. The DC's GPU had 8MB, which is why so many games had such clean/crisp looking textures compared to early PS2 stuff that was super blurry by comparison.

The DC's early shitcanning means we'll never know what it was truly capable of, but a number of games (like DOA2, Code Veronica, Quake III, and Grandia II as some major examples) look and perform better on the Dreamcast compared to the PS2.

Each console has its technical marvels though. Whether Shenmue could have been done on the PS2 or Gran Turismo 4 could have been done on the Dreamcast is anyone's guess.
