I feel that the 5th generation is for 3D what the 3rd generation was for 2D, what really set what the following years would do and what to avoid. It's also fun for the same reasons, it's rougher if compared to what came after it, 4th and 5th for 2D, 6th and 7th for 3D, but it experimented a lot and has that charm that can't be replicated, way simpler, but also accessible and welcoming too.

PS2 was definitely an upgrade though, for sure.

I was shocked at how much Sonic we got, 11! Its over 1/10th of the list, though Sonic's an icon of the hobby, so I guess it makes sense, Sonic fans just engaged with the list more and that's fine.

>>10757397
Will do!

>>10757401
I mean, many licensed titles here are quite good, and there are dozens that don't fit these 3 sets of titles either, I think the list's quite diverse too.

>>10757420
Well, which 10 do you think are good, anon? I get disliking the list, but it's more about the fun in the proccess than the result I think, it was fun!

I've mentioned in the previous thread that I'd avoid an order since I didn't specify if there'd be one or not in the OP, so that lead to many titles stopping at 5 votes, since most assumed that it was only a matter of getting 5 to make it in, but some did assume there'd be an order, which got some titles a bit more than 5, but nothing got all that many votes afterall, most would draw at 5.

It's something I could've done, but I should've specified that in the rules first, as I didn't do it, it'd be unfair to do so while the list was being voted in and made, so I went with alphabetical.

I prefer it this way though, that way people can focus more on what made it in or not, instead of what title was #1 this time from the same few all these lists have, a change of focus sounded fun.

I preferred to not count those as it sort of felt like cheating, but now that I think of it, OP had nothing saying that this wasn't allowed, so with that in mind my list would look like this for now:

NES/Famicom + FDS
SNES (GB/GBC/GBA w/ Super Game Boy)
N64 + DD
Game Cube (GB/GBC/GBA w/ Game Boy Player)
Genesis (Master System w/ Power Base) + CD/32x
Game Gear (Master System w/ Master Gear)
PC Engine + CD-ROM
PS2 (PS1)

Well... I'd say that this is all I really need, with all of this I'd be able to play pretty much any retro video game I'm interested in, surely a few had to be left out, but that's part of these challenges.

It was the most rich library of that generation by far, it's just filled with shovelware, as the most popular console's library always is, like the NES, Game Boy, PS1, GBA and Wii, for example, but if you enjoy an IP or genre, chances are the PS2 has tons of options for you to choose from and play.
