Sadly they can't get the rights to the SSI Goldbox games, Ubisoft has some copyright too, so getting Hasbro and them to give the rights to GoG for rerelease just isn't going to happen.

So do you guys consider it cheating if I'm using the Gold Box companion to quickly memorize spells and the experience bar interface to monitor when it's time to level my characters?

I really dig the game, but some things feel too archaic to me, like having to manually check their experience, and then refer to the manual to see how close they are to leveling every 3-4 encounters.
