Where does one start with Wizardry?

How is this even possible? Why do they hate free money and publicity?

I really want to play them legally but the physical copies are way too expensive and we are not even including the Apple II computer. I remember reading years ago that there was a problem with the translation and thus the reason they are not released but I can't find that post. My question is, who do I have to write to so I can ask them for an answer and hopefully a release of these games? It seems like the intellectual property is owned by Drecom and they are going to release new games but there is no mention about the older games.

I was looking to play some simple dungeon crawlers (I looked into roguelikes but I don't like the complexity) and was thinking about Might and Magic, and Wizardry. Are these good games? Where should I start with them?

Concerning the Wizardry games, which way is the best way to play the first five games? Emulating the playstation version? Playing the dos versions? Do any versions have any extra content or adds or removes things?

Never played a Wizardry game, which should I play first to get into the series?

How should I go about playing this series? I have a SNES and PS1, but I'm not sure if those versions were even released in english, or what the better of those two options would be

So I just bought wizardry 6, 7, and 8 and am currently installing 8 what am I in for?

So, I just picked up Wizardry 6/7/8 in the Steam sale for practically nothing. How do I get the most out of playing this trilogy? Can I just sit and play through without worries, or will I need the graphpaper map setup people talk about? Was I rused or are they worth playing through?

Wizardry 6,7 & 8 are on sale on Steam right now (at a really atractive price, too). Should I purchase them, or are there another versions that are better (I read about a remake for Wizardry 7).

On a related note, should I play the series in order or not? What are the best versions for each game? I have the SNES 1-3 trilogy but I don't know if it is the best version of the games.

Does each game even have a reason to complete it? I mean, I had fun with what I played of one but it seemed like there was nothing really pushing me as the player forward. Is there an ending? A boss? Or is the end-goal to just survive long enough to become powerful?

So I just buy Wizardry 6+7 and I'm completely new to this series. Any tips, mods, etc...
