I'm surprised this trope STILL surprises people.

The game isn't so hard, all the bosses are easy because they all have simple tricks you can use against them. After that it's just making it through the levels, and the only levels that are hard are the ones before the technodrome because enemies are a real bitch there.

One thing people fail to understand is that the game seems heavily based on Getsu Fuma Den, and just like Getsu Fuma Den, subweapons aren't considered as cool neat bonus but actual weapon upgrades.

Protip: the basic shuriken is one of the strongest subweapon, and can take down jetpack dudes in two hits. Swapping the lone shuriken for the set of 3 shurikens is a big mistake.

that's it, that's the entire story of the game. Not an evolving story with twists, a different goal every world to make it feel like each world is a different episode/issue, obviously no cutscenes either because that shit really isn't that necessary to make a game

I'm not exactly making that shit up, it's a classic with bad licenced games. in Astérix on NES/GB/SNES the entire game is about Obélix being captured. Obélix, the one being in that universe that's basically an invicible god that wreaks havoc even when he doesn't want to... captured. The reasoning behind this being, one, it gives them an excuse not to have that character playable, and two, it gives them an excuse for the story, and that game came out 4 years later.

This is my experience as well. I just cannot believe people when they talk like everyone had a SNES/Megadrive in 1993; or that everyone had the recommended specs to play Quake in 1996. And my family wasn't poor, not at all; and I live in a west european country.
Did those people live in the richest neighbourhoods only surrounded by rich people or are they just pretending they were there and looking at release dates on wikipedias?

From age 11 to 16 we knew TWO kids who had any of latest consoles and several of them too, one was a spoiled only-child, the other one was rich as fuck who was also a dick and people pretended to be his friend just so they could go at his home play games once in a while.
