Well a lot of shit had to be cut out of and changed to make Mother 3, so there was probably going to be some time-travel shit. Seems odd to have Porky taunt Ness at the end of Earthbound but never follow up on that, doesn't it? I think Porky's time-traveling was going to be a bigger plot point and you would have to fight him as both Ness and Lucas in different time periods.
