So, Navi was to be present in Zelda 3, got into Ocarina. Deku Tree was to be in Zelda 3, got to Ocarina.
Most of the times it seems that Nintendo have huge ideas too much complex for the current gen, and they store it to use it in the next one, or even in the same console. Ocarina was to have a full day/night cycle that was implemented in Majoras, afterall.
