Serious Sam is extremely legit and deeply misunderstood, play it on a higher difficulty and the games encounter design really shines through, it's like playing chess at a million miles an hour as you try to deal with each set of encounters, prioritizing enemies, weapons etc. That being said they can be extremely exhausting games, hard to play long sessions of. Serious Sam is basically what happens if you take something like Doom, completely disregard level layout, puzzle design, etc and focus entirely on encounter design and enemy design, and they're extremely good at that one thing.

I found a Dreamcast with all the shit for it, and it ran for about $15. This was at a pawn shop, too.
