I always love the character but didn't play his games as a kid because my poorfag family only bought me games on special occasions and I'd opt for console stuff every time since most gameboy games felt like ass to me.

I've played just about all of them recently and I don't think any of them are particularly good. Especially once they started doing that segmented metroidvania shit.

I like the structure of Wario Land 1 but it plays like ass. I like how 2, 3, and 4 play but the structure is ass. VB Wario Land would be cool if they didn't need you to find a key. And I just got bored with Shake it.

The WarioWare series is consistently fantastic though. And I liked Wario World a whole lot.

Honestly though I think Wario should have just stayed a Mario character who occasionally butts heads with Mario in the main series, occasionally allies with him as a player 3. Would have been interesting to have a game where Wario and Mario have to rely on each other's strengths to cover their weaknesses, on a system that doesn't suck shit like the DS. But those faggots at Nintendo have their weird and dumb made up rules about who can't appear in what branch of the Mario franchise.

I don't know why the promo art from the N64/PS1 era really resonated with me while while I was more or less indifferent to the stuff made during sixth gen.

Probably pure nostalgia, since I got really into buying game magazines in that time period... though I really did like the hand drawn artwork from before too.

Also, I miss the yellow tint Mario used to have to his skin.
