Versions of DQV:

Original: bad fantranslation, otherwise all good.

PS2: best graphics by far, orchestral music, somewhat stiff but palatable fantranslation.

NDS remake: rebalanced to trivialize all challenge, completely ruining the game + god-awful translation, my god; protable. Worst version by far.

Mobile: a close port of the DS version.

The movie: absolutely unwatchable garbo with the worst ending ever tacked onto it. The hero turns out to be a kid playing a VR version of DQV and the final boss is a glitch that got sentient. You can't make this shit up.

Dumb meme. Mostly comes from the fact jami/kon kidnap your wife for a bit. Basically everyone assumes they rape your wife and the fact horses have massive fucking dicks makes everyone think it's hot or some shit. Basically because something is lighthearted and innocent a lot of people draw porn of it, DQV is the second most most popular DQ game behind DQIII.

Depends. If you know moon then DS is probably the best version though PS2 does have the orchestra soundtrack. Just ignore English DS DQV.

V on snes was my first, what version did you play?

I played IV on DS after it, though you should look into itbif possible. People are pretty mixed on which version they preffer, I actually preffer the nes myself, but I can understand either being preffered. V is a great game though, good to hear you enjoyed it.

Maybe III, it also has emphasis on classes. Though really any one should be fine, V and VIII are the most popular if that means anything to you.

VII's cast is my favorite in the series, very charming othervthen Aishe. VII is a phenomenal game, my favorite DQ, take your time and enjoy it.

For me just give me a feeling of real progression and decent gameplay. Seeing my party grow feels really cool to me. For jrpgs I think the best are the dragon quest series, mother series, and metal max series. Simple but just light hearted fun.
