I was wondering just now, who was the anon that ranked a bunch of retro FPS games a few threads back? Cus Im trying to remember which Painkiller game he listed that was relatively high that most consider one of the shit ones but anon made an interesting point how putting it on a certain difficulty makes it a fun game and I can't for the life of me remember his reasoning and I want to cus it was a good point.

Do you guys genuinely think that DNF will be finished via various Duke autists getting together to do so with the included source code and level editor?

I'm surprised that, with a decent amount of people saying that Half Life "killed" the fps with its linearity, scripted events etc. (not that I agree with them, though I can see where they're coming from), no one's tried to make a Half Life mod that rebalances the whole experience to be more like Quake or something. Changing the gunplay, messing with movement physics and maybe making it so you can bhop without having to use the mouse wheel, I can definitely see potential in something like that taking off in the modding scene, or at least being something someone would be greatly inspired to make. Most Half Life mods are just custom maps or new campaigns altogether (aside from stuff like Counter Strike or Ricochet). And yeah they definitely have a place and can be fun, but it'd be neat for someone to take it a step further by completely changing the mechanics altogether.

With this recent wave of love for Blood I bet Monolith could try their hand at making a proper Blood sequel. They haven't made a game since 2017, and something like a new Blood game would really stand out as a game if done right.

That's the funny thing about motion blur in most games. It's nice to look at, especially if something fast paced is going on, but it's shit to play with.

What are some good retro FPS where I can bhop in some way? Other than the obvious ones like Quake. And nothing like Half Life. I dont want a game where I have to bind the mouse wheel to jump, just some good ol' fashioned space+A/D or W+A/D movement
