I never liked the gameboy Tetris that much. That "iconic" music was just annoying and repetitive also the gameboy was lagging a decade behind in terms of graphics. But it certainly had some more modes and also was fine with multiple players.

Just in terms of music IMO that Mirrorsoft C64 Tetris, which had outstanding music, was my favorite and maybe the tetris version that I played the most. Too bad it lacked massively in terms of modes. Aside from the outstanding music (a single track of over 25 minutes) this was a really bland tetris version.

Also that CD-i Tetris looked really comfy and had outstanding music too, too bad I don't have an emulator to play it.

Not a commercial game, but I also liked another C64 version that I found on some cover disk back in the day, which was called "Hirnris" and also had diagonal blocks. Also it's legal to emulate.

The later (again non-commercial) C64 Tetris games looked much better with their shiny FLI and IFLI graphics (using every programming trick in the book of C64 hardware), but somehow a lot of demos scene groups released their own Tetris version like this as some kind of challenge and not all games were that interesting.

And speaking of the demo scene, there's also this weird Tetris game from Peru (Samba de oruga) for PC:

There's also the original russian Tetris, but sadly once again I wasn't able to emulate it (yet).
