OP here, it's unfortunate I had to learn that screw was stuck the hard way but it could be worse. Controller feels pretty much the same even after cleaning it so that's kind of disappointing, but at least you never touch the back of the Famicom controllers in the spot that's missing, unlike the NES one which is a complete rectangle it has a raised edge that you rest your fingers on so luckily that bad screw was in the perfect spot because if it was anywhere on the lower half your fingers would constantly be touching the broken part.
