One of my first games, on Amstrad CPC.
It's not too different from Manic Miner...

Roland in Time (1984, Amsoft)
Amsoft was a like the software division of Amstrad computers or something. They made some of the earliest games for the platform. Some were pretty good, others real dogs. This game was one of the first I had. It's basically a Manic Miner / Jet Set Willy platform thing where you explore all the different game screens and collect stuff. There's a lot of different areas, so that kept it interesting. Here's the game map:

The jumping physics is kinda of annoying at times, but maybe not as much as in Blagger (another one of their games). Anyway I played this a lot and never finished it. And apparently the game was bugged anyway, and needed some POKE's to make it completable. But I didn't know this, so it didn't bother me, and anyway I never managed to explore it completely. The game world seemed really big at the time...

I also liked a few of their other games (Oh Mummy!, Harrier Attack, Spannerman) but those are fairly repetitive, so there's not as much replay value.
