replaying zwei right now, I had forgotten how fun this game was. PD1 is way fresher in my mind but Zwei really blows it out of the water. There's just way more to shoot, way more interesting enemies, and every boss has a pretty wild and fun gimmick to them. I only made it to the ice level, which was where I'd usually die bitd. Maybe a "1cc" isn't so far-fetched now that I am older.

A lot of surviving is learning to preempt enemies and kill them before they have a chance to attack you.

I don't know for sure but I guess you let the two midbosses survive too long on stage 5, meaning you have nothing left for the boss. You have to kill the two flagships quickly or else their attacks will get very messy.

For the boss you need to remember that you can only move when you are oriented forward (which is something they change -for the better- in Zwei), so when the boss is flanking you and attacking you need to be aggressive and destroy his bullets quickly or else you will be eaten alive. The second phase is simple but you need to be careful of the huge hitboxes of the rockets.

Zwei is in my mind better in just about every way, though it lacks the great orchestral tracks of the first. As another anon said it has a grimmer and more melancholic feel to it, and the game benefits from it imo. The final boss is quite a thing of beauty; it's one of my favorite final bosses of all time.

what retro game would you like the most to have a new gen version? for me it's probably panzer dragoon, it could be a great open world

Panzer Dragoon II is my favorite Saturn game.

You flashed that Action Replay with Pseudosaturn OP? I'm thinking of doing it myself, but I need to know if I can still use the 1MB-4MB RAM function if I do that.
