I'm having some problems.

So I found an old Viewsonic CRT as pictured, like the one I had previously. My issue is sometimes during startup now on my Win98 the screen stays black, and its only when I manage to load to desktop that turning it on/off finally results in a visible screen, although this widens and suddenly fades to black again. After throwing it on/off again I navigated to the control panel and changed the resolution, and its seemed to stabilize, so I think from boot it might have the parameters for the screen size way off and auto shut off or something, but I'm hoping someone here knows whats going on better than I. I'm praying its not just age.
