I honestly have no idea what maps do, or if they do anything at all.
Guests with no map have no trouble "heading to Ride" and guests with maps get just as ridiculously lost as those without.

Watching one particular guest from when they first turn up.
He just goes on the same ride 20 times until his hunger and thirst is maxed.
By the time he finds a food stall and eats his food his happiness is zero so he leaves the park.

Th-thanks

I have played a monster rancher game but I have no idea which one it was.
GBA maybe?

You only sat on your farm and trained your monster to let it battle others.
No proper storymode or running around in the world.
Felt pretty lame compared to other monster collection games like Pokman, Jade Cocoon or Dragon Quest Monsters.
