and OPL manager works! thanks guys.
my main fear was that the IDE adapter had broken or something (it has poor build quality and visible hot glue in a few places) but looks like everything is working fine.
i was expecting it to show up as a regular HD in windows but i guess it doesn't need to for OPL launcher to know what to do with it.

tonight i will be playing SEGA AGES puyo puyo tsuu, ive heard it has some nice features added over the arcade edition.
