that has nothing to do with CRT vs LCD. That's entirely due to the shit-tier quality of the genesis composite output. Composite on an LCD shows the waterfall blending. RGB on a CRT shows the vertical stripes

Also it's a really bad example. The waterfalls are basically the ONLY benefit to using composhit on genesis. Everything else looks much worse and you get shitty jailbars. I'll take a nice clear image even if it means MUH WATERFALLS are messed up. Certainly better than pic-related.

It's not even a good argument. The waterfall effect only works because of how terrible MD's composite encoding was. Not to mention other issues like jailbars and rainbow banding.
pic-related is what the "ebin waterfall trick" actually looks like on composite. Not to mention everything else looking like it's been smeared over with vaseline.

I have two model 1 geneses. Jailbars are terrible on both, with the caveat that this ONLY HAPPENS WITH COMPOSITE VIDEO. With RGB the picture is completely flawless.

So really, that's the solution. Use RGB. If you don't have a TV/monitor that can accept RGB, I'd recommend an RGB-to-component transcoder and use component. If that's not an option and you *must* use composite video, you're basically out of luck. Genesis composite is just fucking shit all-around and there's no salvaging it.
That said, there is a way around it. You can use a 32X, which takes RGB through the pass-through cable on the back and has its own composite video encoder that does a better job, with no jailbars. The downside is, well, you need a 32X. And I doubt you want to get one just so you can play genesis games in slightly better composite video quality.

a couple transparency tricks aren't worth all your games looking like they have vaseline smeared over the screen. Also not even the transparency effects actually look good because pic-related is what actually happens on real hardware.

Genesis composite is just too dogshit to justify using.

this, the way the developers intended.
