I got one of the most powerful, expensive phones on the market back in September.
Just like with any other Android device I've owned, my previous phone was then bogged down artificially so fucking hard that despite its specs it can't even fucking run the Android operating system without lagging, let alone running games or emulators on the device. It was a fucking nightmare just taking pictures of my modern phone with my old phone. And once I finally did, it took over thirty minutes to upload the photos while the new one did it instantly, all due to artificial meddling and bloating from the developers.

That shit just doesn't fucking happen on a dedicated game handheld. Also; actual buttons and physical inputs will always be infinitely more precise and satisfying than touch screen controls. If you're buying a controller for your phone, you're already inconveniencing yourself and might as well just get a dedicated handheld in the form factor you prefer.
