Oh. I thought they were resistant to it. It seems they're mitigating damage from how fast they are.
Also found out the voodoo doll ammo doesn't drain on the transformed beast priests, even in DOS. Not very useful but adds to its "bosskiller" use.

Even in Doom, front-loaded shotgun damage means you can avoid a hitscanners line-of-sight while reloading/pumping/whatever. There's also some use in being able to spread more of that "stagger" with the sawed-off primary fire.
