Always loved how the art for Pokemon Gen 1 and 2 looked. Damn shame they homogenized it all into the most generic looking slop ever. Even the non watercolor stuff from the original run looked far better than what they have today.

Tajiri thought it would be cool to have Pokemon that are talked about but never catchible. Another programmer altogether decided to actually shove Mew in the game on his own.

The official guide written by the staff makes it clear that the player is suppose to figure out that Venonat evolves into something. It's suppose to be a surprise.

100% a bullshit idea made up by Western fans. Has literally no basis in the game.

It's literally the list of towns Tajiri could bicycle to as a kid.

According to the original guide, Pokemon naturally shrink as a defense mechanism. The balls were designed to trigger it in them.

Gen 1 is remembered as fondly as it is because it was part of a giant media franchise and Game Freak almost always pimps out the Gen 1 mons. Not to mention that it wasn't until Gen 6 that they stopped shoving Kanto into our faces in game.
