everyone should play P1 the way we old-timers played it: Revelations version with all its idiosyncrasies, followed by using a cheat device to glitch your way into the SQQ in all its unfettered glory. THEN play the PSP version and sob quietly as you're bombarded by the modernisms.

Revelations: Persona comes to mind, the game's already depressing tone coupled with the mediocre production values and the fact it came out early-ish in the generation contributed to creating this unnerving atmosphere that gives me an uncomfortable feeling whenever I think of it. In fact, I feel like the the last two characteristics are very common in unsettling games

If you're constantly using fusion spells in battle your personas will sometimes rank up quickly/learn a new spell/get bonus stats after a win. It's possible to roll with your starters all the way up to the point where you can swap them for their custom versions (if you made certain dialogue choices correctly on the way) which will then carry you to the point where you can summon their Ultimate Personas.

Though certain bosses will give you trouble because of exposed weaknesses.
