When you clear the wrecked ship, there's an east exit that the player is encouraged to take.
Although that path has little of interest, it takes them directly to Maridia and a room with a very noticeable wrecked tube aesthetic. This is a suggestion that you can break the other tube you've seen.

Exits you can take from pic related will make it clear there's a whole area to explore outside of that tube, and should prompt the player to figure out how to get there.

You really like to whine and bitch about this at every possibility on both /v/ and /vr/ don't you? Why do I have the idea you made this thread just to be able to post this bullshit again?

The fact is:
You can see the tube room extends both upwards and downwards and IIRC this is further emphasized by the fact you can see small enemies going up and down the walls if you wait a while in the tube room.
More importantly you come across this room which shows similar tube being broken which should give an idea to try to blow up the other one.
Being able to blow up the tube is shown in the intro demo if you wait long enough and yes, I'm aware that this only happens if the game is already beat once but if you bought a second hand copy of Super Metroid it's more than likely the previous owner(s) has already beaten the game.
Supposedly there was a commercial of Super Metroid showing being able to blow up the tube but since I don't live in burgerland I don't know whether or not this is true.

Finally thousands of people (including me) were able to figure this out on their without any outside help or hints so the fact YOU weren't able to figure it out doesn't mean everyone else were dumbasses like you.

Well you are still a faggot and the fact YOU weren't able to figure out something that was obvious as fuck doesn't make it a "bad design" or something that was impossible to figure out:

First off blowing the tube is shown during the intro.
>B-but it only shows that if you have beaten the game!
If you bought a secondhand copy of Super Metroid or rented the game from a friend it was more than likely previous owner had already beaten the game. Do remember that Super Metroid was common as shit game everyone and their mother had beaten.

Second if you play through the game normally (going to Maridia from eastern parts of the map like everyone did the first time) you go through this room on your way to the "impossible to figure out" room and as you can see it shows a familiar looking tube that is already blown.

Lastly even my 10 year old self figured out you were supposed to destroy the tube simply because you can clearly see the room continuing both upwards and downwards which is shown by the map and the fact you see enemies crawling on walls.

It's been mentioned, but this was in the game. Super Metroid is full of subtlety. Most players are probably power bombing literally everything by this point anyway
