Tearring Saga. Made by the original creator of Fire Emblem after leaving Nintendo. Lawsuits from Nintendo prevented the game being called Emblem Saga.

FE1 is almost unplayable now. Stick to either the remake on FE3 or the DS remake. I prefer the SNES version.
FE2 is the better game on the NES in my opinion, but the 3DS remake is way better.
FE3 is two games in one. FE1 remake, and a sequel. The sequel has a sequel on the DS too. Good game.
FE4 is awesome, but has some flaws.
FE5 is a side story for 4, is really good but difficult.

The guy in charge of the original games, Shozou Kaga, went on to make other FE style games like Tear Ring Saga for the PS1, Berwick Saga on the PS2, and a recently released Vestaria Saga, which is actually getting an English Localization and is estimated to release next year.

This is my favorite video game.

I'm willing to bet very few people even know what this is.

TearRing Saga is made by the guy that created Fire Emblem. Its essentially an SNES Fire Emblem with better looking battles and mature dialogue.

So why did Shouzou Kaga leave Intelligent Systems? It seemed like they had a good thing going, but then he left and made totally-not-Fire Emblem for the PSX.

Not a big deal, other than his silver lance; Abel and Kain are much better in FE1.

By the way, book 1 of FE3 is a FE1 remake (as is FE11).
