Pokemon Gold. I couldn't get past the puzzle in Cianwood Gym. I spent six months without being able to get past, I beat Jasmine + Team Rocket's hideout and leveled my Feraligatr to lv71 before realizing you shouldn't push the center boulder in first. And every time I tried, I surfed all the way across the ocean, fighting every Tentacool along the way. Over and over and over.

Oh yeah, then I fought the Elite Four with one 'mon (Feraligatr) without realizing you could use Ether to get PP back. Not so bad? His moveset was Cut, Strength, Surf, and Whirlpool. Yeah.
