lol IX is one of Nobuo's worst soundtracks and Sakaguchi was fucking with Spirit's Within at the time in Hawaii. IX was made by a B team because it was meant as a B game on the soon to be obsolete PS1 (but changed to a numbered FF and tagged on a bunch of filler coughdisc3cough so that it would actually sell) while the real team was working on the PS2 game and the PlayOnline MMO service.
