I said arthritis because that was the quickest way to describe it but the doctor didn't say it was actually arthritis when I went to get my hands checked. Really? Because I worked on a map recently in UDMF format and almost all of this was available by default. The only things you listed that it couldn't do were colorize textures or 3D floor stuff. The rest was available all from the start with no extra setup. Just start a new map in GZDoombuilder in UDMF format and you can use any texture on any floor from the start, no manual definition required. I'm sure Build does a lot more than Doom no doubt about that, but a lot of these features are easily accessible with GZDoombuilder and UDMF.

Genuine thoughts? It was better in the early days when it was more mechanically simple, then Mark went full retard and made it incredibly bloated and unfocused until it's the mess we see today. The code is fucking hideous and there's some awful hacks that are noticable and cause issues.
I mean a lot of Doom mods make use of hacks but a smarter mod dev will at least do their best to hide it and make sure it doesn't break shit, Mark doesn't have that same level of care and consideration, which is bad fucking form seeing as he's openly accepting money in the form of a patreon now and has made it clear he'd like to make a living doing this. So a little professionalism would be wise.

It serves as a gateway mod for a lot of normals, game journalists, and newbies. Pick it up, play it, and then start looking deeper into the modding scene as there's a lot of mods that provide more focused ideas and better implementation.
