While I know there is Sim City, Harvest Moon and even a space sim but they just aren't what I am looking for in a game. I want a game with a clear end goal while being never ending at the same time. Like you can collect 100% of everything (and know it by a list of goals or something) but still get to screw around with that you had created and even subjectively improve on it for yourself. A non-retro example of what I am looking for is Viva Pinata basically though it doesn't necessary have to be about cute animal based life forms. That wasn't what I loved about the game (though it did help) but instead of how simple the gameplay itself was but how quickly complex your garden and what you must do to complete everything became. It knew what it was going for as a game and that was simple but the amount of content to be found was massive. A complex game that will take hours to go through and plan for what you will need ahead of time but while the game itself being easy to play to let you do it all at your own pace.

Which is pretty much exactly what I am looking for in a game though hopefully better than a letter matching puzzle.
