First time reading your points and they're interesting. I still ultimately like 3&K above all simply for the sheer story in itself; yes, I'm a huge narrativefag over ludo. But you could also argue that Sonic 2's story is equally an epic, if not greater for the stakes at hand. That ending, especially, when you experience it as an 8-year old kid will always stick with you. That's what makes nostalgia. So I can see how 3&K cools down after taking down Robotnik and his Death Egg for the first time, and putting an end to it all for good. I'm still waiting for another mascot or character to inspire kids as pervasive as Sonic did. But hey, maybe there's shit in Fortnite or Minecraft I'm not seeing.
