/vr/ - Retro Games

this isnt an actual game from the 80s, but it's styled to look 8-bit. i think it came out around 2015 and was made by a frenchie (possible french title), but i could be wrong. it's a side-scrolling puzzle game, you play as a catholic priest in the medieval times and you start the game running from templars who want to burn you at the cross, and you collect something like bible verses throughout the world. the final boss is satan, and at the end of the game the templars burn you anyway

what are some good games with a medieval aesthetic? i love this kind of look, especially if its a darker aesthetic, like wizards & warriors, ghouls forest 3, hell even the NES friday the 13th game

any games worth playing with this kind of feel going for it? not limited to 1 genre or time period

are there any old games (don't particularly have to be nes games) that have forests with black or dark backgrounds, like pic related? i find it to be the comfiest thing, kind of like how old runescape's draw distance fog was just a black wall

What does /vr/ think of Wizards and Warriors (NES)?

I think Rare has pretty much given up on this franchise, so we'll probably never see another W&W game again. I wonder if there are any other fans of the series on /vr/ though. I currently own all of the games, including Fortress of Fear for Game Boy.

Wizards and Warriors. Dark Souls totally ripped off this one. There's a hollow tree and invaders.
