op since you seem so dead set on the easiest route get a fmcb memory card with OPL on it
try your best to find out how to update OPL (google this) and after that just use a usb flash drive. Some games won't work, some games will be slow to load but work fine.

The FMCB memory cards are like $5 or something these days. USB drive a 64GB is like $10 right? Should be good for now so you can play some things but just know it's not perfect.

I think you are right, but seeing games like Fatal Frame, Haunting Ground, Silent Hill, .hack//, ect skyrocket to astronomical prices has really scared me. I’m not sure what I would do if I didn't already own those games. Just about anything unique, weird, or horror related has spiked dramatically. At first I thought it was the pandemic causing all of this, but even after that the prices continue to explode. I imagine a lot of people are priced out in that regard. The Fatal Frame games were sitting at 20 – 30 dollars for years, now they’re sitting at around 100 dollars

Also, how active is the PS2 online community? I would love to play some games online with a PS2, but the communities seem really small and drama ridden.

OP here. If this thread is still up by the time my PS2 remote comes in the mail, I'll reply giving a definitive answer on my own question

I figured that might be the case. Thanks for letting me know. I mainly want one since I have only ever owned the fat PS2. I think the PS2 slim is a great design. I love the original PS2 look too

100% that tube is a composite(2) and one RF. I am using one. Its good for SNES, NES, GEN, SEGACD, and PSX. I don't like how PS2 looks but XBOX GBA emulators look good. Old 4:3 movies/tv/anime are good.

Comfy PS2 thread
What are you playing? I just started Winback 2 and Dog's Life after finishing the first Winback. I like the first game more so far, the highly segmented sequel is a little odd to progress in but it still has a good amount of clunk which is what made the first one good.

I'm willing to bet the PS2 does has the biggest game library out there. The only console I can imagine rivaling it, is the Nintendo Wii. Were there bad games on the PS2? Of course, but the Wii takes the cake largest amount of shovelware games on a console. I don't mind the "inferior ports" to be honest. Look at Silent Hill 2, to this day it's still the best way to play the game. MGS3 Subsistence still have content locked behind the PS2 version as well. Fatal Frame 3, .hack//, Haunting Ground, ect will forever be the only way you can natively play the game on any console minus emulation. So, I take the good with the bad

Not him, but I don't think it matters. Good for you for having your priories straight, but no one is going to care. We are CRT junkies and most would rather play it on the original hardware. BTW, don't easily get baited by buzzwords. Why are you in a CRT though if you don't own one, nor are interested in the subject? Genuinely curious

I just want KH1 in portable form.
Other PS2 games would be great but mainly just that game.

Can that thing emulate PSP games?

Why are people that don't use shaders so insecure in their position, and get angry when you point out how objectively wrong they are?

PS2 ODE when? I'm tired of disk swapping to play my burned PS1 games.
And no POPSloader is not a solution

Why does OPL suck?
>need to use SMB or HDD to have any semblance of compatibility
>need to have dozens of different versions installed for specific games like Ace combat 5
>Klonoa 2 doesn't work
>Outrun 2006 randomly freezes
>Tales of the abyss randomly freezes
>VMCs are a pain in the ass to setup and will randomly corrupt
>Sly 1 has broken physics (not OPL's fault though it's impossible to run off an HDD because it uses the PS1 cpu)
>most english patches don't work
>STILL no proper way to play PS1 games on the only other console that can output them in 240p
>We literally only got a method to install fmcb off a burned disk for PS2 slims this year, 20 years after the console released.
I appreciate the effort and as a whole, OPL is amazing and many hard to find games work well, but fuck is this really the best we can do for the best selling console of all time?
Again don't get me wrong, I didn't have to buy a rotting disk of God hand or Silent Hill 2 and I'm very grateful for that. It also saves consoles with broken disk drives from getting binned which is nice.

>PVM 1
>perfect geometry, but it's been used so much it's starting to get dull
>PVM2
>Literally new in box, but some caps are failing causing geometry issues. Bright vibrant picture
which would you go for? Assume the same size & line count.
