This might be my favorite game on MSX, Hi no tori aka Firebird, based on Osamu Tezuka's magnus opus.

Another one that's like that is Hi no tori for MSX (which is different from the side-scroller Famicom game).
It's very similar to Knightmare but you can also jump, it's pretty damn fun.

DK3 is very original because it uses a Space Invaders formula with platforming similar to DK1 and Jr, but for the most part is a shooter. Hi no tori also has some platforming even if it's a vertical shooting game, you have to avoid pits or mud that slows you down.

I'm already emulating it on PSP.

Been playing for days and just now I figured out you can actually upgrade your shots and use a map. And I'm still not sure what some of the items do.

Anybody else actually played this game? It's also known as Firebird in english.

I wanted to play it because of the work it's based on, but it's actually pretty fun although frustrating at times.
