Definitely not "ideas guy" material.

Seriously though I know what you mean, I have a few maps that I'm burning to make and since they have been in my head for a few years (seriously) I know they're not going to bugger off. Some aspects of editing are certainly more fun than others, the visual aspects I appreciate much more than say, coding.

The people here have been very helpful though, I've just returned from a 5 month or so absence so I'm getting the hang of editing again.

See, for about £9 more I can get something that's brand new, which I can return for my money back in the event of a fault, includes a USB port and support for modern operating systems.

What you have is a 10 year old flashcart containing 10 year old tech, demonstrated by the requirement of a mains-powered docking station connecting to a PC running a pre-XP OS via a parallel port, which was phased out years ago.

I could buy a PCI parallel port card, but I'd then have to perform some trickery to fool the vintage linker software, as it's quite insistent on an original port, and can't be natively fobbed off with an aftermarket card pretending to be part of the motherboard.

The only think I can say for sure is that it was previously owned by the kind of person who loses the linker required to make full use of the thing.

TL;DR naw, you're alright mate.
