if you can do repairs there's hinge replacements online or you can send it to Nintendo. Opening any kind of DS up is a huge pain, you have to take the whole thing apart.

I was going to tell you to get a plastic case but the 2DS XL case is two separate pieces instead of one like the DS Lite case with its own hinges so that won't work
