I think it’s a regional nomenclature thing. Where I lived it was just called “the playstation”, but then when PS2 came out everyone called it “the PS1”. My first time ever hearing the term psx was when I was reading an article about the PS2 dvr in Japan called the PSX. I never heard of someone calling a PS1 a PSX until coming to this site. I have seen that over in the UK magazines were calling it that, so I think a lot of Britt posters here call it that.
