Because the situation is so much different now, with three or four different FF7 threads up all week on a board that has been on full repeat for years now.

The problem isn't that sixth gen is too popular, the problem is that /vr/ is at large made by people who come here to discuss about a handful of games they have nostalgia for, hence why we get the endless recurring threads about Chrono Trigger and whatever else, and why the board has adopted the horrible "contrarian" argument about anyone who dares say anything different about whatever sacred cow.

You know what this board's problem is?
That people here don't want to discuss anything, they want to drown in their echochamber or nostalgiafagging without either trying to seriously discuss anything nor actually branch out and play retrogames, which is why the general discussion sticks to a small handful of games from the 4th and 5th gens while PC stuff is all about the usual suspects.
At the very least introducing the sixth gen with be a breath of fresh air for a while before this board loops back into a full repeat of the very same threads each week, but at least there will be 10 recurring threads instead of 8, that would be already a net gain.
