I mean if anything, the N64 games are actually at least decent, anon. Don't let the SoTN/metroidvaniafags bullshit you otherwise. If you have trouble with how the player characters handle, just stop and take things a bit slower. Don't want to accidentally dodge backwards and throw yourself into the poisonous river, after all.

And this argument right here is just stupid, it's not even a real damn reason and all that newfangled shit you rattled off afterwards, while not necessarily bad in and of itself, can easily end up being clunky and not a good replacement with letting the player perform actions on their own.

As much as I appreciate the LoS games, I never particularly liked what they did for their platforming.

Oh, and if you liked IV, you might like the N64 games, particularly director's cut Legacy of Darkness. It's 3D classicvania with older 3D adventure elements, a really respectful take on the setting you'd expect from something called "Castlevania" kind of like IV's, nice story for each player character if you care for that sort of thing. They DO play like old 3D games, though, so don't go in expecting a smooth ride, I guess.

>3Dvania bad

Yeah, maybe if you're a SOTNbabby who doesn't like a game dictating its own challenge.
