I know how they work, m8. I'm asking why all the consumer-grade ones seem prone to trashing the disc when you rarely hear that complaint from the industrial grade ones. I was also inquiring about the practicality of formulating a scratch coating which would then be applied- retroactively- to old console games to prevent scratching in the first place.
