It would be better if you could equip two abilities to a job instead of one. Like I want to be a mage but also steal, which it lets me do, but I can't equip the thief glove unless I'm thief class, so it makes the whole set-up pretty worthless. So basically I'm forced to be a thief at all times if I want to steal and that limits me to only one more ability.

It would have been more fun if you had your base class, one command ability, and one passive. That way you could do more cool things.

I don't like the original sprite look Square used, but it's undeniable that it's the style they were done in and the hideous look of the sprites we see in the remakes are likely very much what they always were meant to look but didn't because of hardware limitations.

As for the special editions, it's partly revisionism as with the Greedo shooting or shoehorning Boba Fett in the background of any scene he can. But there are other scenes like Jaba in ANH where it was left out originally for technical reasons and that is somewhat analogous to the FF situation.

That's the japanese art style they used. It's also why the sprites in the mobile versions of VI etc look the way they do.

People hate what the sprites look like, but that's how they were always intended. Snes resolution just couldn't do them justice.

Well none of us seem to like them, but that's my point. Someone there must have a love for the old sprite style.

It's a little horrific to think of, but had FFVI originally been done in higher resolution it probably would have looked pretty similar to the mobile release we did eventually get.

This. Though the weird irony is, if ffvi had been originally released in higher resolution that's what the sprites likely would have looked.

Even in ffvii the overworld sd models look like that style in 3d.
