There are no hard rules for these generals. Same for people who play on phones, OEM hardware, etc. It's just a chill place to talk about retro handhelds, whether it's emulation, FPGA, og hardware, or the games themselves. As with anything else if you want to talk about something, just talk about it

This seems mostly accurate to me. I usually tend to collect the second two while I just use my tablet or TV stick for number one

Not him, I get what you are saying but I personally feel there is something great about every console. SNES had its weaknesses but it also had its strengths, like transparencies, scaling effects using special chips, more colors, etc. The same can be said of the N64, obviously lacking CDDA audio and full motion video, but had more powerful a 3D graphics processor than the PS1 and especially the Saturn.

Finally I have to mention the Game Boy and GBC, since while yes they were technically underpowered, it ended up working out in Nintendo's favor since they were less expensive and didn't require as much battery power as their competitors. I feel this is something that is often overlooked when talking about Nintendo, yeah their consoles never quite reached the same level as the SNES but their handhelds have almost always been good imo.

Not a tendie but sometimes I feel like we compare apples with oranges and then wonder why orange can't become an apple or vice-versa. I guess I just like every system too much to really understand these console wars, especially as it pertains to retro gaming. I grew up with SNES and Genesis, then later N64 and PS1. I have my preferences but I would never really call any of them bad, even the really hated ones like 32X

Game Boy took the Genesis route of upgrading the hardware (GB -> GBC) rather than just slapping a few chips inside of the carts. It even had its own "wacky" add-ons like GB Camera and GB Printer. The N64 and Saturn RAM carts were also like an add-on of sorts, even though nobody really sees them that way. There are however a few odd games like Kirby Tilt 'n Tumble which features the accelerometer. In the case of GBA and beyond, everything is baked into the hardware so there's no need to add enhancement chips to the carts themselves.

Once I have my teal blue Game Box Plus, all I'll need is kiwi green and atomic purple and I will have all of the GBC colors

If I can't get the atomic purple from Walmart I'll just get a RetroMax instead
