Vandal Hearts is great. Vandal Hearts II is worse. Vandal Hearts Flames of Judgement is garbage. The art also took a nosedive across all three games.

I think Vandal Hearts comes the closest because its plot structure is close to a hour long TV drama series. In terms of pacing it feels less video game-y than many other RPGs.

Vandal Hearts is a pretty fun pick up and play SRPG.

Im in the mood for an SRPG. Anyone know a decent shortish one? Kind of like pic related. Just something that's fun but not really a huge time suck. Also talk SRPGs. If you want.

It's pretty straight forward for an SRPG, you could probably power through it with no trouble. Id still like to get the story bits though, myself so Id sooner get the PS1 version. Am curious how the Saturn port runs though. But man I love that game.

Vandal Hearts 1 is super cool

A few people bring it up in passing now and again but I really wish it got more love in general.

I've been replaying Vandal~Hearts this week. It's a pretty fun game. Does anyone else remember Vandal~Hearts? It's got blood geysers.

Favorite characters? Classes? Maps? Im sitll feeling the classes myself again after all this time but man fuck that mission that with villagers.

I just put it on my raspberry pi and I've been loving it so far.

I finally found a JRPG with a combat system I like.

It's like playing a D&D campaign. I just wish there was some open world exploration segments.

If there was (or is) an RPG with this type of combat system and open world/dialogue segments as well it would be the perfect console RPG.

Just played Vandal Hearts for the first time. I'm pretty blown away. Getting a distinct Shining Force vibe. Old school SRPG/TRPG goodness. Kill animation blood is about to send my sides into orbit.

Any anons have warm feelings or Vandal Hearts stories?

Playing through the 3rd act and its a pretty good game so far.

There arn't a lot of filler battles. Most maps will something new: a secondary objective, environmental hazards, new enemies, or an unusual shape that forces you to play very different.

Its definitly better than a lot of srpgs that just place 10 enemies on the map with no real thought to level design.

Art style is pretty mediocre and the story is fairly generic.
