Tomba!

I've mostly praise for this game...am I the only one who thinks it's not very good? After about an hour it loses its novelty and the vague quest hints weren't cute.

I have never seen an rpg platformer. It's fun as fuck, difficult and has lots of humor.

Too bad the sequel hit the polygon ceiling so hard it killed the franchise.

I still dream with a reboot in the Wii U and Tomba as a character in Smash Bros. Dreaming is free...

Hey /vr/ just a quick thread.

I've been on the PSN store for about fifteen minuets trying to decide between this or Soul Reaver. Both are games I played and enjoyed as a child and always wanted to revisit and actually play properly. Your call.

I'm guessing you already know it, but it's best we clear the way first of all the games that would come to mind. Tomba/Tombi 1 and 2 are excellent and very unique games.

Ordered this and getting it in 2 days. Just in time for Christmas

Can we discuss Tomba? Why did it fail? I remember seeing at least the second game advertised to death! I even have a demo they were giving out at a Playstation event before it was released.

Also, why was his name changed to Tombi in PAL regions? Is it because they'd pronounce Tomba as Tomber? Is any of that offensive over there?

I tried, I really did. And the sequel. But those shitty controls...

Looking to play something like Tomba. Is there anything else like it other than it's sequel?

Also are there any other good action adventure games I might have missed? Stuff I played and enjoyed include:

Sprites or 3D based games are fine. Just something with a fun adventure would be great.

I adored this game, 100-percenting both the first and second games as a kid.

Croc, Crash, Spyro, and fucking Tomba.

Hell I'm a bit surprised we haven't seen news of a Tomba HD release or something. Possibly with that unused town area (assuming they'd have access to the assets).

I miss Tomba, I believe it's the first game I've ever played that had an MMO style quest system.
