>None of the sages were awakened in the child line,
Fair point, but the series constantly reinforces the concept of destiny so some of that concept could seep into the other timelines (think Ganondorf receiving the Triforce of Power as a "divine prank" in Twilight Princess), and either way, someone that has it in them to become a Sage probably wouldn't raise their child pacifist.
>and Malon showed no interest in Link.
The affectionate "fairy boy" nickname? Remembering Link as an adult? The implications of Link having Epona during the events of Majora's Mask? Etc. She may not interact with Link enough for such a relationship to develop on-screen but he clearly made an impression on her enough to be a likely future romance candidate from what we do see.
>There is no mention of her horse ranch in TP, as if she never existed.
You can make the same argument to say that the Gerudo died off by Twilight Princess, when clearly they return as nomads in the next game in the timeline (incidentally, so does Lon Lon Ranch). Besides, not everyone keeps track of the names and places of their ancestors from over a hundred years ago, and the landscape of Hyrule is not the same in Twilight Princess as it was in Ocarina of Time, or in many other games for that to matter much. I'm just saying, if Talon thinks Link has talent as a ranch hand in Ocarina of Time, it would be fairly logical for his descendants to live similar lifestyles up until Twilight Princess, where Link is a ranch hand.
