I've always been a Crash 2 and Crash 3 player. Just started playing Crash 1 PSone Classic recently. My impressions:

>a frame or so of input lag built in
>air physics are fucked
>bounce physics are fucked
>bonus via pick ups
>world map structure
>cannot die to get clear gem is fucking hardcore
>can only save in bonus or getting a gem (what?)
>loading a save reverts your lives to 5 (what?)

Platforming design has been pretty fun so far so I'll forgive it.

I personally think racing games are the biggest offender of this whatever-you-wanna-call-it.

Some anon did mention RC Pro Am; he's absolutely right about that. If you get a certain distance away, the opposing cars will magically gain speed just to ensure they don't fall behind, or in the usually-happening case, staying ahead of you.

Same bullshit kinda applies to Mario Kart; AI adjusts its speed in the same manner like RC Pro Am. They also have the most convenient of pickups at the ready, like the Blue Shell, when you happen to be in the lead; it feels like the AI is literally designed to not allow you to retain the lead or win.

Also happens in Gran Turismo 2; that game is the game where a Fiat 500 can beat your new Nissan Skyline or Ford Mustang you just bought.
