That's marketing for you. Partly responsible for why American culture is so fucked.

Controversial statement 1: During the build-up and height of SEGA vs Nintendo in America, console video games were viewed as children's toys; hence why video games are traditionally always near toy aisles in big box retailers. As such, if the video game industry believed that the MAJORITY of their audience is under 18, they would change the games to be a inoffensive to parents a possible. Remember; this was during a time when THE SIMPSONS was a point of ire for family watchdog groups.

Controversial statement 2: Video Games are STILL very much viewed as playthings for children, so they will always be marketed and tweaked as such for mass consumption, because there are a lot more 12 year olds with money having parents than there are 30 year keyboard warriors.

Controversial Statement 3: What you're mad at is you culture's values; not localization teams. You should be trying to petition the end of obscenity laws; not get mad at Nintendo or NIS.

Is there a good WAD that explores just melee possibilities? I was doing a run of Vanilla Doom before with just my fists, and it was fun but when it gets to stuff involving a lot of shotgun guys im pretty fucked. Itd be cool if there were a wad that allowed different melee attacks that included a block/swerve option or just different melee attacks in general. Hook a brother up

>that feel
Usually I bring around my PSP or DS lite to play some games while I wait for my next class or something and I've never been approached before about it. It's kind of sad. I want some more /vr/ pals.

There's an arcade around here that has an Alien vs. Predator machine, Raiden Fighters Jet, and Metal Slug 4, but I feel like I'm the only one that plays them. Most of the high scores on them belong to me.

SoCal trooper here. I'm sorry for your loss OP.
There are very little arcades here, but it's nice to know where some of them still are, even though they're glorified Fighting Game Arcades these days thanks to competitive gaming.

Round One by the Puente Hills Mall offers lots of racing and fighting cabinets as well as photo booths, which is pretty interesting and weird. It's also home to a karaoke bar and a bowling alley, lots of fun to be had.

The Super Arcade in Walnut has been changing lately, they have had a few more rhythm games in there now, but they removed some of the old cabinets they had there to make room for other things. Even my favorite game Puzzle Bobble. Fuck that shit, I want Puzzle Bobble back.

I haven't visited since I moved out of Walnut, but I'm sure that the Raiden Fighters game is till there with one of the multigame cabinets.
