I know some modders sperged the fuck out and purposely made their shit not work with the Unity ports because they didn't like Bethesda or because the ports were broken at the beginning.

In my opinion Bethesda/iD have made good on the ports in that they have addressed and fixed problems, removed shit like that gay requirement to be online, and their curated add-on wads are really a boon to the community as a whole, it's exposing a huge demographic of people (namely consolefags) to mods they would never have played otherwise, it's getting still active modders like Revae more exposure for themselves and their wads and ultimately it will bring in new blood to the mapping scene.
