> potentially incredibly long translation strings
ill admit that would work
but it would be woefully bloated and inefficient
> made the feature request even if it was accidental
this idea has been around since the 90s
there's absolutely nothing new about it
palette swaps have been used in games since the early days, even before 8bit images I think
this is the stupidity I HAVE to deal with out of people, they forgot the wheel even exists, let alone reinventing it

Serious as shit guys these are actually issues in the industry, and abit more than that too:

I imagine that the CIA and NSA back in the 80s and 90s saw the trend for increased capability to make information portable, and blushed and felt a little bit anxious about how what might come out on the Market could seriously get ahead of them and their capabilities to (ahem, do their job, which is to spy).

So its not even in the realm of conspiracy theories with greedy illuminati people trying to make sure that the sheeple cant suddenly get ahead of them by being able to share information faster than it can be covered up.

Simple fact is Computer and Tech Companies have to pay off their investments with the next 20 years worth of developments and if someone comes out with a massive leap in tech they're going to be screwed (and may not be able to retire to florida or the bahamas when the corp goes belly up).

Case in point... in The Terminator (1984) as kyle reese is sleeping in the car there's a radio advertisement for CD Players even though they were new back then.

Imagine if within 5 years of introduction you get DVDs, or at least several gigs worth of data storage on an optical disk.

Or taking the SuperDisk as an example, you go from 1.4mb storage media to 120mb, just like that.

Or if someone just decides "Haha, we just invented Optical Computing, we'll have Optical CPUs on the market within 3 years" - ALL of the existing plans for making shit as well as all of the money that went into it for years before that is gone. Even due to speculation alone, even if it takes 2 years for that competitor to.

Anybody breaking into the market with a new idea, even if they're an existing manufacturer, is going to get alot of threats and phone calls and eventually get muscled into

Did you know a business can be forcibly bought out against their will? So much for Capitalism being the best way to push humanity forward.
