I finished SMT1 a while back and was really surprised how much I liked it.

Should I bother with these first 2 or just go to SMT2? I have a pretty high tolerance for old janky rpg mechanics so that’s not an issue, I just wanna know if they’re genuinely good games or just generic wizardry clones

How long does it take to beat this game if I don't draw the maps myself but look them up online?

I've been in the mood to play NES games and was wondering what some of the absolute essentials are. I've spent time on the recommended games wikia, but its kind of just a big tiresome list of a bunch of crap that doesn't seem worth anyones time.

What would be the absolute essentials?

The megaten games are more interesting than persona from what I've seen, but the learning curve seems a lot steeper, especially in the early games. Where's a good place to start?

Has anyone played all the way through the original famicom megami tensei games, I wanted to start playing them but I was wondering if there hard to get into.

I am currently playing through Shin Megami Tensei for the SNES and really loving it. Reading about the original NES games has made we want to go back and try them after I finish SMT, but I was curious as to how frustrating certain features were (the complex mapping, dark rooms, older interface and gameplay, etc) and how well the games have aged in general.

What does /vr/ think?

So what is the story like in this game? Is it just the book but in vidya format? If so, I'm gonna finish the book before I get the game considering I can't read runes very well (especially kanji, seriously what the fuck is that shit)
