Why do people spend so much time arguing about which source port is better as if the original doesn't run perfectly fine in DOSBox

I know you need to lower the cycles a bit so fire damage works properly but other than that I don't get it

I installed GoldToDark and then TFix, which fixed the crashing I was getting in the menu, but I didn't realize that even unchecking all of the options while installing it might have left me with modded content.

I just want the vanilla game with bugfixes
